New day, new plans, new travels
Monday, September 17 2018, 13:34, my heart pounding.. what now?
I received the first e-mail with a confirmation letter and a link to a website. I immediately opened the page and typed my username and password and boom … the first thing I noticed – date of joining: November 2 (46 days left). So I had exactly 46 days to prepare and leave my old life behind.

I searched over the portal and found out I have a week to sign the contract, enter personal details and fill out any necessary documentation. I quickly called my personal doctor and dentist and arranged appointments at the end of the week. That day I filled out the paper about my health history and past vaccinations. Let me point out that the only mandatory vaccine before traveling to Dubai is the yellow fever vaccine. Other vaccines are provided at the EK clinic when you join the Emirates. On the same day, I visited my dentist who wrote a document confirming I have healthy teeth.
When reading the documents on the portal I thought I also had to perform a compulsory health check, since you aren’t allowed to stay in UAE if you have syphilis, HIV, hepatitis and if you are pregnant and unmarried. Official authorities in Dubai take care of checking all this conditions. I only provided the cytolytic test or pup test.
I signed a contract on the portal, filled out the data, uploaded medical documentation, photocopy of a passport, an official image, a biography and I was left with nothing more to do than just wait. So this was the first step to moving to Dubai. I waited for confirmation of all the documentation and tests I’ve done until the last week of October.
There was only one more step left to do. A few days before I left, I received all the information about traveling to Dubai. Recruitment team uploaded my mandatory documents, a document with mandatory pictures, birth certificate, degree certificate, photocopies of passports, etc. All these documents were necessary for a reason that the migration is regulated following the rules. Two days before departure, I received an airline ticket (from Venice, since it is a direct flight to Dubai) and a new home address. For all who are still waiting for this information; without worries, sooner or later you will get all the information you are eagerly waiting for.
And so it came, the long-awaited date, November 2nd of 2018. The first surprise of that day was certainly the early visit of my two friends. At eight o’clock in the morning they showed up in front of my door with bags full of birch and donuts. Oh, how much I miss them. I said goodbye to my two cousins, aunt, uncle and… I said goodbye to my home, which I will always keep in my mind. So at ten o’clock in the morning we set off to the Venezia airport. In full : mom, dad, sister, boyfriend, grandmother and grandfather.
At the airport I had a problem with the luggage, because of the weight. I exceeded the allowed 50 kg by 5 kg and allowed 8 kg in hand bag for 4 kg. However, they were kind enough to let me on the airplane with that amount of luggage. And the last chapter before I left? With tears of sorrow and of course happiness, I said goodbye to people closest to me and I promised them that I would think about them every day. So I stepped past the boarding ticket reader and waved them goodbye.
